That's what this weekend has been, and what I am currently eating at my desk (the singular being a bit misleading - there are 4 of them, spread with butter). Anyhow, what a good few days it's been - Thursday was my first West Side Story encounter, with my mother (she cried, we lusted over the same cast member, I was sat on by a rah); Friday afternoon was a most pleasant Team Greek work sesh, involving Trollope, French Fancies, fizzy pig tails and Destiny's Child; Friday pm was the Peter Wake concert in college which saw the twin stars of Harri the beautiful wonderful singing sensation with Mister Bear, and the welcome return of Trouser Jazz, both almost eclipsed by the STUNNING performance of a John's fresher male performing 'Didn't we almost have it all' by Whitney Houston. Aural and comedy perfection. Fab times to be back in college with all the clever and talented Johnians, and most especially because of the visits of Kdawg, Pippa, Susie and Rob, and an old school trip to Klute.

SATURDAY was my second WSS trip, after a lovely dinner with the ladies, and it was such a beautiful evening. Under the influence of vast amounts of pick'n'mix, we laughed, cried, squealed, nudged, and finally wriggled uncomfortably as the elderly gentleman next to Jude succumbed to his overflowing emotion and sobbed uncontrollably. Star performance from Nikki 'Puerto Rican' Jones, who looked and sounded FIT and of whom we are wildly proud. Followed by a swift nightcap in the Bailey Room and walk home in the snow, a perfick evening.

Sunday morning = Vennels and the largest cheese scone in existence, Waterstones (in which I attempted to choose two Valentine's Day recommendations and could only come up with ridiculously inappropriate choices - tell your man you understand him, with a collector's edition of 'Mein Kampf'; 'The God Delusion'? What better way to say 'you bring a temporary relief to my meaningless existence'? etc), a flying visit to the toon for pizza and catch-ups with my homies, followed by a cheeky mojito back in Fabs with Harri, Emi and Roar. Very satisfactory indeed.

All this merriment now means I am resorting to making an exam-revision style timetable to fit in the stuff I have not yet done. I have also been adding stickers to my calendar, listening to the Shins on repeat and mourning the sad sad loss of Felix, my beautiful fern. He was pretty much exactly two years old - not bad for a 30p Ikea plant - and is now at rest at the bottom of the garden. Still, he had a good life. At the back of all is a decision which is proving impossible to make, re: potential PHD action next year. Very confusing.

  1. Chuh! Pinching all the fun I see! LOVE your Valentines day choices btw. I shall come as a mystery shopper to Durham Waterstones to see what other choice recommendations are to be found.
