small

Recently I've been buying a lot of small books. It started with my small obsession with the Penguin great ideas series, and their little myth books. Then it accidentally expanded into anything dinky. Small is beautiful, and also handy for carrying on the tube and whipping out for a read (only when sitting down, however. I make a point of it. I've had enough people resting 'One Day' on my head to last me a lifetime and I don't intend to inflict that on anyone). So far the favourite tiny book has been Fay Weldon's short stories, partly because the book is so dainty and the contents are so strong. It's a good contrast. The next to be read is the one I bought purely for the title, 'Romance of the Thin Man and the Fat Lady'.

I also impulse bought a Moomin today. He came home with me on the tube and is now installed on the bookshelf (he also likes tiny books, only being a small moomintroll). Charles bought a brilliant book of lists, some titles of which she is going to pass on to me for my blogging purposes and your general delight (probably).

Bedtime.
