I am now a proper worker at another job. Whee. I think I will like the Playhouse, I have got my uniform and name tag and given them my details, so it already beats Hide! And the manager guy is so much more laid back and it's a lot calmer an atmosphere. I think I will like theatre bar work, a lot less frantic than a proper bar, no-one getting lashed, mostly old ladies helpfully changing their minds about wanting either a latte or a normal coffee but with milk in. It's not getting full audiences yet either so nice and quiet, which I like. I ALSO got to fulfil a dream today, of being one of the ladies with trays of sweets round their necks at the interval. Not as glamorous as one might imagine, I did get a bit light-headed as the strap began to cut off circulation to my head. But the ice-cream boy was next to me who was nice. And I learned that the seats had been designed to look like the sea, darker blue at the front and lighter at the back, with random red seats to be like buoys. Although as we pointed out, they do just look like victim seats that you wouldn't want to be sat in at a panto. But nice idea. Anyway the colleagues seem ok, more banterous than Hide although I am keeping fairly quiet for now. Haven't pulled a pint yet (there were five of us behind the bar fighting for customers) but I will make it my aim to do so on Thursday. Scary. Also, I learned that cutting one's finger at the same time as cutting limes is less than awesome.
That is it. I am getting crampy hand from not having a desk at home with a real mouse. Sad times. So I shall go.

Edit: I also saw Emzo today who brought me a WISPA GOLD. Which I enjoyed.
Huzzah for enjoyable working experience and dream fulfillment! Quite a busy day when you take into account the Wispa Gold too. Good luck for Thursday and pint pulling.
ReplyDeleteInteresting trivia re: seats. The buoy thing does seem to be overkill though.
